Week 9 of the 2021 College Football season is setting up for a huge week of ranked matchups and a big spotlight for the B1G divisional title chases. One of these highly anticipated matchups includes #6 Michigan at #8 Michigan State where ESPN’s College Gameday is set up. There is also a big matchup between #20 Penn State at #5 Ohio State.

This week for the B1G and College Gameday is unofficially Statement Saturday as there will be teams that will be big favorites for the East and West Division. College football analysts Desmond Howard and Kirk Herbstreit weighed on the big games and the race for the B1G.

Howard had this say to say about the big week:

“One of these teams will make a statement. Because I believe, nationally, people don’t believe Michigan State or Michigan is a Top 10 team. So I believe the one team that wins today, especially with an emphatic victory, is going to make a statement.”

Herbstreit had this say about the highly anticipated matchup between Michigan and Michigan State:

This game, to me, is the week we finally learn about Michigan and Michigan State. They’ve looked great, they’ve been headed towards this collision. Whoever gets through this game, we can say, ‘OK, they’re that team.”

Saturday’s showdown in East Lansing is one of the biggest of the B1G season. The winner will undoubtedly receive a high-ranking in the College Football Playoff rankings. The loser will have some ground to cover.
