Zak Herbstreit is carrying on the Herbstreit legacy at Ohio State. He is the son of ESPN analyst Kirk Herbstreit and a walk-on tight end for Ryan Day’s Buckeyes.
Thanks to the world of Twitter, Kirk was able to get a recent glimpse of his son hitting the practice field. Needless to say, he loves to see his son in the scarlet and gray.

That’s surreal. Thanks for sending. Appreciate it-hope you’re well Steve! https://t.co/kok2kw9Xfe

Buckeye fans will remember Kirk from his playing days at Ohio State. He played quarterback for the Buckeyes from 1989-92 before graduating.
During his career, the elder Herbstreit threw for over 2,400 yards and five touchdowns. He did not play in the NFL before beginning his career in broadcasting.
It would be awesome to see if Zak is able to nail down a scholarship during his time in Columbus. Ohio State will open the 2021 season Sept. 2 at Minnesota.
