College GameDay analyst Kirk Herbstreit is the latest to rip ESPN colleague Dan Orlovsky for his comments on Justin Fields.
This week, Orlovsky made an appearance on The Pat McAfee Show and was asked why Fields’ stock was declining a month before the 2021 NFL Draft. Orlovsky said he could not answer that question but claimed he reached out to “people in the know” that expressed concerns about Fields’ work ethic, the QB’s desire to be great and even noted the Ohio State quarterback was a “last guy in, first guy out” player.
Herbstreit wasn’t a fan of Orlovsky making the comments on the show. He thought it should not have been mentioned.
“Absolutely RIDICULOUS,” Herbstreit wrote on Twitter. “Even if YOU aren’t saying it…to pass that along from ‘people in the know’ is reckless and absurd!! Embarrassing!!”

In the video Orlovsky posted, he attempted to clarify his comments. He said he reached out to people close to Ohio State who said Fields has excellent work ethic and is always wanting to improve as a player.
Fields was once considered the No. 2 quarterback in the draft. Since the end of the college football season, his stock has ranged from the No. 2 to the No. 5 quarterback in the class.
