Wisconsin was counted out. After a 1-3 start to the season, the Badgers were expected to be a middle-of-the-road B1G West team, surrendering its dominance at the top of the division.
Things did not look good, especially from an offensive perspective.
Oh, how a few weeks can change all of that. Wisconsin is now in the middle of a 6-game winning streak, sitting at 7-3 on the season and ranked No. 15 in the College Football Playoff Poll. The Badgers control their own destiny in the B1G West.
During Tuesday night’s rankings show on ESPN, analyst Kirk Herbstreit gave a major shoutout to Paul Chryst and the Badgers. He’s clearly been impressed with the turnaround.
“Their offense has gotten better. They’ve found an identity on that side of the ball,” Herbstreit said Tuesday night. “Paul Chryst has done a heck of a job with a team that was 1-3. And here they are in the Top 15 with a couple of games to play. Good for them.”
Wisconsin will close out the season with games against Nebraska and Minnesota. Win out, and the Badgers are headed back to Lucas Oil Stadium in Indianapolis at 9-3.
Not bad considering the awful start.
Maybe this season should serve as a reminder to never count out Chryst and the Badgers.
