ESPN college football analyst Kirk Herbstreit has updated his top four rankings following Week 8 action.

On Sunday morning, Herbstreit tweeted out his top four teams, implicating who he’d place in the College Football Playoff if the season ended today. Still just one B1G team made the top four, but he’s got a pair of teams from the conference on the cusp.

Here is what Herbstreit tweeted out on Sunday morning:

Alabama remains in the top spot after defeating Tennessee 45-7 and Penn State has a stranglehold on the No. 2 spot after a convincing 42-13 win over Michigan. Georgia stays at No. 3 during its bye week and TCU rounds out the top four after crushing Kansas 43-0.

Herbstreit has Wisconsin sitting at No. 5 after knocking off Maryland and Ohio State at No. 6. The Buckeyes were on the bye last weekend.

Things could really shake up next week, especially in the B1G as Saturday’s match-up between Penn State and Ohio State only grows in importance.

Maybe there weren’t many surprises in Herbstreit’s top four this week, but there could be some major shifting in that group next weekend.
