The Memphis Grizzlies topped the Utah Jazz in the NBA Summer League 95-84 on Thursday night, but that didn’t stop former Illinois big man Kofi Cockburn from having a good game. It looks like he is starting to get used to the NBA.
Cockburn had 12 points, 9 rebounds, 2 assists, 1 block, and 1 steal against the Grizzlies. He also went 2-6 from the free-throw line as well. Cockburn was Illinois’ leader in points per game (20.9) and rebounds per game (10.6) in 2021. While this is just 1 game very early into his NBA career, it’s a pretty good start for Cockburn.
His 12 points were a result of him using his body to get into the paint. Here is a video of his teammate Bruno Caboclo finding him for a powerful alley-oop slam underneath the basket.
