Kurtis Rourke sidelined to open Indiana’s 2nd half vs. Nebraska

Kurtis Rourke has been phenomenal for Indiana throughout a 6-0 start to the season and strong first half against Nebraska. Unfortunately, the veteran quarterback did not open the 2nd half with the Hoosier offense.
At one point in the first half, Rourke threw a pass but his follow-through brought his hand into the arm of a Nebraska defender. He appeared shaken up on the play but stayed in the game.
FOX sideline reporter Jenny Taft revealed Rourke did visit trainers and had a bloody right thumb tended to. However, head coach Curt Cignetti claimed it was nothing and that Rourke would be fine to continue.
Rourke did finish the first half against Nebraska with numbers of 17-for-21 passing with 189 yards and a touchdown to go with an interception on a Hail Mary to end the half. Unfortunately, it was Tayven Jackson who opened the 2nd half with the first drive for the offense.
No official update has been given on Rourke’s status but it will be something to monitor. Through the first 6 games of the season, Indiana was averaging the 2nd-most points per game in all of FBS with Rourke leading the charge.
Then again, with a 21-point lead at halftime, it’s possible this is a precautionary move for the Hoosiers to see if they can finish off a win without Rourke in the lineup. Jackson did lead a short-field touchdown drive in his first action of the game, and Indiana is currently in complete control.
