LA Rams assistant reaches final decision on joining Matt Rhule’s staff at Nebraska, per report

Matt Rhule will have to go elsewhere after LA Rams assistant coach Jake Peetz opted to remain in the NFL.
Rhule has been building the Nebraska program since accepting the head coaching gig at Nebraska back in November.
Multiple sources reported earlier in the week that Peetz would be joining the Cornhuskers staff as both the quarterbacks coach and in an undetermined special teams role. However, Peetz has decided to remain in the NFL in a decision announced on Saturday.

Peetz was a long snapper and reserve player during his college career at Nebraska from 2003-2005.
The Rams’ assistant coach has made several stops in both at both the college and pro level, having coached at Santa Barbara City College, UCLA, Alabama and LSU before joining the NFL and coaching with the Jacksonville Jaguars, Carolina Panthers, Washington Commanders, and Oakland Raiders.
Rhule will take over the Nebraska program beginning in 2023, and is in the process of adding to his staff. Currently, Rhule has three open spots after hiring defensive coordinator Tony White and offensive line coach Donovan Raiola last week.
