Despite missing last week due to Maryland’s COVID-19 situation, Ohio State quarterback Justin Fields is still firmly among the frontrunners for the Heisman Trophy.
According to the latest odds from SportsLine, Fields is tied for No. 2 with Trevor Lawrence and just behind Alabama’s Mac Jones.
Here’s how it breaks down at the top:
- Mac Jones: +180
- Justin Fields: +200
- Trevor Lawrence: +200
- Kyle Trask: +350
It seems increasingly likely that the Heisman will be won by one of those four players. They are the quarterbacks for four of the top six teams in the country and each of them is putting up video game-like numbers.
Florida QB Kyle Trask is making a charge, moving from +700 last week to +350 this week. He threw for 356 yards and six touchdowns in a win over Arkansas on Saturday.
Still, Fields’ numbers are hard to beat. He’s completing 86.7 percent of his passes and has as many touchdowns (11) as he does incompletions.
Fields and the Buckeyes will have another chance to impress Heisman voters on Saturday against Indiana. The winner of that game will likely be the representative for the Big Ten East in the conference championship game.
