Lathan Ransom had a big offseason for Ohio State, and he’s lined up for a key role in 2022. All that while coming off a broken leg in the Rose Bowl win over Utah.
After the season-opening win over Notre Dame, Ransom addressed Ohio State being “called soft” during the offseason. That gave the Buckeyes more than enough motivation to show what they could do in Week 1.
Ransom said Ohio State “couldn’t wait” for the opportunity after the long offseason.
Lathan Ransom: “We were called soft all last year and had to sit there and just eat it. We couldn’t wait to play Notre Dame and just show what our defense is all about.”

Ohio State gave up one touchdown drive to Notre Dame but the Irish were shut out in the second half. The Buckeyes also held Notre Dame to under 100 yards rushing while averaging 2.5 yards per carry.
Despite not producing a turnover, Ohio State was consistently in the backfield against the Irish and wreaked havoc all game long. Hopefully, Ransom and the defense can build off the first strong showing of the year heading into Week 2.
