According to ESPN’s Kirk Herbstreit, Ohio State Buckeyes junior defensive end Chase Young is expected to be suspended for four games for accepting a loan from a family friend.

Young is expected to appeal the decision, which would last through the remainder of the regular season. The DeMatha Catholic (Hyattsville, Maryland) product would be eligible to return for a possible B1G Championship Game appearance in this scenario.

Shortly after the No. 1 ranked Buckeyes kicked off against the Maryland Terrapins in Columbus on Saturday, one of Ohio State’s most well-known fans, Akron native LeBron James, voiced his support for Young on Twitter:

The best player on America’s best defense – entering Saturday allowing just 7.9 points per game – Young has racked up 27.5 sacks during his time with the Buckeyes, including an FBS-leading 13.5 this season.

Projected to be one of the top non-quarterbacks selected in the 2020 National Football League Draft, Ohio State’s star pass rusher was listed atop Mel Kiper Jr.’s latest “Big Board.”

No stranger to being a high draft pick himself, James starred for St. Vincent-St. Mary High School from 1999-2003, winning three consecutive Ohio Mr. Basketball Awards as a sophomore, junior and senior.

Electing to bypass college basketball, James was selected by the hometown Cleveland Cavaliers with the No. 1 pick in the 2003 National Basketball Association Draft.

He is now in his 17th NBA season, his second with the Los Angeles Lakers.
