Life imitates art: Former Maryland DL flagged for excessive celebration after ‘third pump’ a la ‘Key and Peele’ sketch

Football fans who watched the Comedy Central show “Key and Peele” were occasionally treated to some rather clever football-themed sketches dealing with relatable subject matter like player names and celebration penalties.
It appears former Maryland DL Yannick Ngakoue could have learned something from watching the show. In a recent preseason game, Ngakoue drew a flag for excessive celebration. If he had watched the “Key and Peele” sketch “McCringleberry’s Excessive Celebration” from 2013, Ngakoue would know that it is the third “pump” that makes refs reach for the flag. In the brief clip shared to Twitter, it sure looks like the ref drew the line at two pumps.
The football clip and the “Key and Peele” sketch are both embedded below:
C’mon Yannick Ngakoue! Can’t do the third pump! 😂 pic.twitter.com/kUcQA8DZDE
