Another Herbstreit is headed to Ohio State.
Zak Herbstreit, son of ESPN analyst and former Buckeye Kirk Herbstreit, will play in Columbus as a preferred walk-on.
He made that announcement on Twitter on Wednesday afternoon.

The graphic pays homage to the fact that Zak is now a third-generation Herbstreit to play for the Buckeyes. Kirk’s grandfather, Jim Herbstreit, also played at Ohio State. Jim was a captain for the 1960 team that finished 7-2.
Kirk Herbstreit played quarterback at Ohio State from 1989-92 and threw for 1,904 yards as a senior.
Kirk sent a message to Zak after the announcement:
Zak-
Congrats my man. So proud of you. Chase your dreams. Your family is here to support you and love you all way through. So cool to see you headed to Ohio St. We’re beyond excited for you! https://t.co/taEdYTD5AC— Kirk Herbstreit (@KirkHerbstreit) December 23, 2020
Zak has two older brothers who are currently walking on at Clemson. His brother Tye plays receiver and Jake plays safety.
Zak will be joining a program with championship expectations. The Buckeyes will be facing for the Tigers in the College Football Playoff for the second year in a row in the Sugar Bowl on Jan. 1, 2021.
Last weekend, Ohio State won the Big Ten Championship with a 22-10 victory over Northwestern.
