Logan Smothers has found a new home after the former Nebraska quarterback spent 3 seasons with the Cornhuskers.
Smothers committed to play at Jacksonville State in Alabama, as the Muscle Shoals, Alabama native moves much closer to home. He has 2 seasons of eligibility remaining. Jax State is moving up to the FBS level this season as a member of Conference USA.
Smothers was a 4-star recruit in the 2020 recruiting class, and originally joined the Huskers as a 4-star QB and the No. 14 dual-threat QB in the country for the 2020 recruiting class per the 247 Sports Composite.
Smothers saw limited playing time, but appeared in multiple games during the 2021 and 2022 seasons. In the 2021 season finale against Iowa, Smothers threw for 198 yards and added 64 yards rushing with 2 touchdowns.
In the 2022 season, Smothers split playing time with Chubba Purdy against Minnesota and Michigan while Casey Thompson was injured. He passed for 80 yards in a loss to the Gophers, and struggled against the Wolverines.
