Longtime ESPN personality announces he’s leaving the network

A fan favorite personality at ESPN has announced he will no longer be working for the network.

Monday, longtime host and personality Kenny Mayne revealed on Twitter that he will no longer be working at ESPN. He got his first opportunity with the network in 1994 and was utilized in a number of different roles throughout his career, including a host on SportsCenter.

“I am leaving ESPN. Salary cap casualty,” Mayne wrote on Twitter. “I will miss the people. i will miss the vending machine set up over by the old Van Pelt joint. We had everything.”

Mayne became quite a popular on ESPN because of his unique style and dry sense of humor. The network would often use Mayne in witty and comical segments during different programs throughout his career.

There was no mention of any future plans at this time from Mayne’s account when he tweeted out the news.
