Longtime Nebraska athletic trainer reportedly passed away on Christmas Day

A longtime Nebraska athletic trainer passed away on Christmas Day, according to a report.
George Sullivan died on Tuesday at the age of 91. He was an athletic trainer for Nebraska football for 42 years and was the head athletic trainer from 1977 until 1995. According to the Omaha World-Herald, Sullivan was one of the founding members of the National Athletic Trainer’s Association.
Sullivan wasn’t just a longtime athletic trainer in Lincoln, he was a graduate of Nebraska and was a member of the Huskers football program in the late 1940s. He received his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from the University.
Sullivan was on staff at Nebraska from 1953 through 1995.
Nebraska named the South Stadium training room after Sullivan in 1999 and there’s also a scholarship given in his name to players on the football team.
