Florida State has had a rough time in 2018.
That’s to say the least. Willie Taggart is the head coach now, and in his first season, he led the Seminoles to a 5-7 overall record. With the 5 wins, Florida State likely won’t be making a bowl game.
There has been a lot of talk with what’s wrong at Florida State, and plenty of the criticism has been pointed toward Taggart. That’s nothing new. A new coach comes in and the team struggles, who gets the blame?
The coach, of course. Right or wrong, that’s just the way it goes.
However, Taggart didn’t deserve what one Florida State fan posted about him. In case you didn’t know, Taggart is the first permanent black head coach at Florida State.
That shouldn’t really matter, but in this context, it does, unfortunately. Take a look at what the fan posted:
FSU fan Thomas Shand posted this about Willie Taggart.
Losing 7 football games didn’t turn him into a racist. His true colors came out.@HiltonGrandVac pic.twitter.com/GBp48BMtac

This, of course, is just straight up disgusting. However, that’s the world we live in. Racists do exist.
Florida State President John Thrasher made a statement about the post on Twitter:
1/2 A recent racist social media post aimed at our football coach is ignorant and despicable. I speak for the entire FSU community in expressing our disgust and extreme disappointment, and I am glad the state attorney is investigating.

2/2 Coach Taggart has our full support and as true Seminoles know, he is a respected member of the FSU family. — FSU President John Thrasher

As Florida State mentioned in its tweet, the state attorney is investigating the matter.
