LOOK: Illinois releases uniform combo ahead of Week 1 matchup vs. Akron

Week 1 of the college football season is finally here.
For Illinois, the Fighting Illini kick off 2019 at noon ET on Saturday, Aug. 31 at home against Akron. Just two days prior to the season-opener, Illinois released its uniform combo for the game against the Zips:

What do you think of the look?
The primarily orange helmet is certainly interesting looking. To me, you probably either love it or hate it. The orange and blue is certainly unique to Illinois when talking about the Big Ten, though, which is what you want if you’re a program.
Teams like Oregon in the past have gotten certain recruits in large part because of how the team looks on the field. It may seem silly, but to high school kids, it’s really not that ridiculous.
We’ll see how well Illinois plays in its flashy uniforms on Saturday afternoon.
