LOOK: Illinois student section has ‘Free Luke Ford’ message for NCAA

This was an awesome job by the Illinois student section in Week 1.
By now, fans everywhere are aware of the new era of college football that involves transfer portals and immediate eligibility waivers. The two have become seemingly commonplace in nearly zero time, but the NCAA decisions on eligibility waivers have become questionable, to say the least.
One such decision involves Luke Ford. The tight end transferred from Georgia to Illinois in the offseason in an effort to be closer to grandparents with health concerns and to allow his family to see him play.

Unfortunately, the NCAA determined that did not meet the requirements for Ford to be immediately eligible. They denied his waiver, and Ford is sitting out the 2019 season.
That is no doubt a frustrating decision for Ford and the university, and the Illini student section decided to send a message in the game against Akron. Simple and to the point, the section held up colored panels to spell out a “Free Look Ford” message from the stands.
