LOOK: Pat Fitzgerald has witty response to Joe Gaziano’s watch list snub

The Ted Hendricks Award goes to college football’s best defensive award. Awards tend to put out a lot of watch lists for media members and sports information directors.
The social media team for Northwestern football noticed there was a curious omission from the Ted Hendricks Award watch list: Joe Gaziano. As a sophomore, Gaziano led the B1G in sacks with eight regular-season sacks. In fact, seven of those sacks came in conference play. He is officially listed as a defensive lineman, but he started all 13 games at defensive end last season.
The glaring oversight got back to Northwestern head coach Pat Fitzgerald. He just hopes the Ted Hendricks Award aren’t the only ones who haven’t taken notice of Gaziano.
“If only we could get opposing OCs & OL coaches to be so unaware,” Fitzgerald wrote in a tweet.
Unfortunatley, the Wildcats probably won’t be so lucky as Gaziano is likely to dominate the game film teams study.
