Penn State doesn’t typically play around with its classic uniforms. It’s one of very few programs that hasn’t gotten caught up in the glamour of alternate helmet colors and uniform combinations. But there will be a special emblem on the Nittany Lions’ jerseys come Saturday.
The emblem will feature Penn State’s famous Lion Shrine, which was presented to the university as a gift from the Class of 1940. It will be featured along the collar of the team’s home blue jersey during Saturday’s B1G clash with Indiana.

The Shrine was dedicated to Penn State during homecoming week in 1942.
Aside from a few minor alterations, the college athletics “clothing craze” has pretty much avoided Happy Valley. But this addition is a nice tribute to the class of 1940 and looks sleek on those blue jerseys.
That’s probably about as sophisticated as Penn State will get when it comes to making alterations to its uniform.
