The area outside of Beaver Stadium has turned into a temporary campground for Penn State, as several students are already preparing for Saturday’s showdown between the Nittany Lions and Michigan.

Early Tuesday afternoon, Ben Jones of StateCollege.com tweeted out a photo of dozens of tents set up just outside the walls of Beaver Stadium. Student’s are presumably trying to ensure they get the best seats available for Saturday’s game.

The battle between No. 2 Penn State and No. 19 Michigan has already gained plenty of national attention, as ESPN’s College GameDay will be headed to Happy Valley to preview the matchup on Saturday morning. The game also has B1G East and potential College Football Playoff implications.

Obviously, the students understand the magnitude of the game. Camping out around the stadium several days before kickoff is pretty good sign of that.

Posting up the tents and rolling out the sleeping bags is nothing new for Penn State students. It’s something that happens in State College every week, but only occasionally at this level. Last year, several Nittany Lions camped out prior to Penn State’s game against Ohio State, a game James Franklin and Co. won in thrilling fashion.

Students are hoping for a similar result this weekend.
