No. 9 Texas will host No. 6 LSU in the college football game of the week Saturday night, but one Texas fan joked he wanted the Longhorns to face a different team.
At College GameDay in Austin on Saturday morning, a Texas fan held up a sign saying the Longhorns wanted to see a certain Big Ten program. No, not Ohio State, Michigan and Penn State … but Maryland.
The We Want Maryland sign is a level of self-awareness I respect, and so I will not make any more jokes about Texas going 0-2 in season openers to Maryland for at least most of today https://t.co/iKO2mM8Ype

Texas and Maryland played each other in the 2017 and 2018 season openers with the Terrapins winning each game. First, Maryland beat Texas, 51-41, in 2017 and then again, 34-29, last year. But obviously, part of the joke is the fact Maryland isn’t a ranked team let alone a Top 10 program like LSU.
What a great way to poke some fun at your own football team and call attention back to a pair of great Maryland victories over the last couple years.
