Wednesday was dedicated to late signees for the 2022 recruiting class but that doesn’t restrict prospects in other cycles from committing. Minnesota landed a big one in a future class on National Signing Day.

The Golden Gophers received a verbal commitment from 6-foot-4, 285-pound offensive lineman Jerome Williams on Wednesday. He becomes the third prospect in the 2023 recruiting class to verbally pledge to PJ Fleck’s squad.

According to 247Sports, Williams ranks as the second-best prospect in Minnesota. Nationally, he is listed as the No. 399 overall talent in the cycle, earning him a 3-star rating.

Williams made his announcement with a post on Twitter:

Williams currently has offers from four other programs. He commits to Minnesota over Illinois, Iowa State, Kansas and West Virginia.

Among interior offensive lineman, Williams ranks No. 27 nationally. He’ll be joining a program that is losing arguably the best collection of linemen its had in decades. Behind the strong front, the Gophers possessed one of the B1G’s top rushing attacks in 2021.
