Purdue is preparing for the possibility of starting the season without one of its key defenders, but Lorenzo Neal said he is not panicking during his rehab process.
Neal is coming off of knee surgery and was hopeful to begin the 2019 season as normal. Head coach Jeff Brohm recently discussed Neal’s injury status, and he labeled Neal as a likely game-time decision for the season opener on August 30.
Neal was asked about his rehab work during Wednesday’s BTN Bus Tour appearance, and he said he is making good progress. He pointed out he is simply following what the doctors and trainers give him to do, but he is improving every day and not panicking about the process:
“I’m making good progress,” explained Neal. “A lot of it is me doing what the doctors and training staff are allowing me to do and just taking it one day at a time and trying to improve every day. I’m not stressing and I’m not going to panic, but a lot of it is just making progress.”

Hopefully, he’ll be back on the field before long.
