Reports are that rookie Luka Garza will sign a two-way contract with the Detroit Pistons.
Sources have told Shams Charania of the Athletic that the No. 52 overall pick in the 2021 draft out of Iowa received one of the Piston’s two-way contract slots, as Detroit currently has 15 players on their list of guaranteed contracts — with only Hamidou Diallo’s restricted free agency left to be resolved.

The two-way contract allows the Pistons to keep Garza on board, without squeezing him into the 15-man regular season roster. Currently Chris Smith out of UCLA is expected to take the other two-way spot for Detroit. Each NBA team only gets two, two-way contract spots.
Garza, the Player of the Year as a senior at Iowa in 2020-21 averaged 24.1 points per game and 8.7 rebounds per game. He was also a two-time B1G Player of the Year and two-time consensus first-team All-American.
Garza had a strong start to his professional career in Las Vegas at the NBA Summer League, averaging 13.4 PPG and 8.3 RPG with an average of 19.8 minutes per game.
