Luke Fickell went on “Always College Football” with Greg McElroy and discussed what appealed to him about Wisconsin, and how he’s selling it to recruits.
Fickell covered a range of topics, including why Wisconsin is the perfect job for him right now. They also discussed what Phil Longo will bring to the Badgers’ offense, why Camp Randall Stadium is the bet place in college football and why the Big Ten and SEC will move away from everyone else.
“What kind of fell in line to you taking this job, and the Big Ten had a big part of it,” he said. “Kind of felt like if you weren’t in the Big Ten or the SEC, who knows where you’d be in the next 2-3 years. I just see the Big Ten continuing to move in that direction, whether it’s expanding, growing, adding teams, there’s going to be a completely different look.”
Both sides weren’t necessarily on each other’s list when the coaching search began, but Fickell said it was a perfect match and timing had a lot to do with it.
About recruiting, Fickell said a lot of the in-state recruits are 3-sport prospects in high school and therefore not fully developed.
