Mady Traoré, a 6-foot-11 transfer from New Mexico State, is coming home.

The big man announced on social media on Tuesday that he’s “back in DMV” and committed to Maryland. This came after Maryland lost Ian Martinez to the transfer portal.

Traoré was born in France, but moved to Cumberland, Maryland, where he played high school basketball at both Bishop Walsh and National Christian Academy (Washington, D.C.).

He was a 3-star recruit in the class of 2022, and ranked as the No. 6 recruit in the state of Maryland by the 247Sports Composite.

He originally committed to play for NC State, but instead spent one year at New Mexico State. He appeared in just 7 games, and averaged 1.4 points and 0.4 rebounds.

The frontcourt was seen as a need for Maryland, as the Terps have 3 perimeter players in DeShawn Harris-Smith, Jamie Kaiser Jr. and Jahnathan Lamothe, and another arriving in Loyola Marymount transfer Chance Stephens, along with returning star Jahmir Young and reserve Noah Batchelor.

Here are some of his highlights:
