Michigan got the start it wanted against Maryland. The Terps dropped the opening kickoff, and gave Michigan the ball, allowing its offense to score on an easy touchdown on the opening drive.

The Maryland returner got a lapse of judgement, and let the football hit off of his face mask on the opening kick off of the game.

The Wolverines started their first drive on the Maryland 10-yard line after the kickoff mishap. J.J. McCarthy found TE Luke Schoonmaker for an easy touchdown to get the scoring started.

Both Michigan and Maryland are off to 3-0 starts after getting through their non-conference schedules unscathed. Michigan had wins over Colorado State, Hawai’i, and UConn. Maryland beat Buffalo, Charlotte, and SMU.

Schoonmaker will have to carry the load for Michigan’s tight ends with Erick All not playing in the game. Schoonmaker had 165 yards receiving with 3 touchdowns last season.

Michigan and Maryland are battling it out on FOX at the moment.
