Man found guilty in death of former Michigan State player Mylan Hicks

A man has been found guilty in the shooting death of former Michigan State defensive back Mylan Hicks, which occurred outside of a club in Canada in September 2016.
On Monday, a Canadian judge found 21-year-old Nelson Lugela guilty of second-degree murder of Hicks, according to The Globe and Mail. The shooting occurred following a dispute outside the Marquee Beer Market in Calgary on Sept. 25.
Lugela will have a sentencing hearing on May 30. A second-degree murder conviction comes with an automatic life sentence and there will be no chance of parole for 10 to 25 years.
Hicks was 23 years old at the time of his death and was a member of the Calgary Stampeders.
While at Michigan State, Hicks appeared in 32 career games and registered 27 tackles. He signed with the San Francisco 49ers as an undrafted free agent in 2015 but was waived before the end of training camp.
