Manny Diaz has a lot of thoughts about Ohio State heading into Penn State’s bye week.
The Nittany Lions and Buckeyes will face off in Week 7 in one of the biggest matchups of the Big Ten’s season to date. Naturally, Diaz, who serves as Penn State’s defensive coordinator, was asked about the Buckeyes as they approach on the schedule.
But he’s playing his card close to the chest:
Manny Diaz said working ahead during the idle week is customary. PSU is doing that this wk, too. What are his preliminary thoughts on Ohio State?
“My opinions are absolutely very strong and they’re absolutely going to stay to myself.”

The Buckeyes are not as offensively attuned as they have been in the past, but that doesn’t mean they aren’t a legitimate threat. Ohio State is still putting up 447 yards per game, which ranks 2nd in the Big Ten.
Kyle McCord is starting to ease into his role with the offense, Marvin Harrison Jr. is still the top WR in college football despite some injury issues and TreVeyon Henderson is off to another strong start to the season, sitting at 5 touchdowns and just under 300 rushing yards on the season.
The loser of the Nittany Lions’ battle against Ohio State is essentially out of the race for the College Football Playoff based on the 3-horse dynamic of the Big Ten East right now.
