Marcus Freeman and his Notre Dame program are preparing for a tall task this Saturday against Ohio State. It’s a challenge Freeman knows all about after playing for the Buckeyes and serving as a graduate assistant in the program.

Now, he’s preparing his Fighting Irish to take the field against what he labeled as “a great opponent.” Notre Dame enters the week with a focus on achieving success in the game, but Freeman notes that begins with prep on Monday.

“It’s a great opportunity on Saturday night to play a great opponent in Notre Dame Stadium,” said Freeman during his press conference. “We’ve got to continue to focus on what it will take to have success on Saturday and that’s having a great Monday.”

As for Ryan Day, Freeman praised the head coach for doing “an unbelievable job” of leading Ohio State.

“I’m looking forward to seeing Ryan Day again. He’s done an unbelievable job of leading that program. I’ve told him every time I’ve talked to him that he has just done a tremendous job of really leading that program,” said Freeman. “We know it’s going to be a really good opponent with a great coaching staff and we’re really looking forward to it.”

Notre Dame knows the challenge is big but the Fighting Irish are clicking to begin the season. QB Sam Hartman is a big reason why, throwing for 1,061 yards and 13 touchdowns without an interception in the 4-0 start.
