Mark Dantonio hit a pretty significant milestone as Michigan State pummeled Washington State in the Holiday Bowl on Thursday night.
The 42-17 win for the Spartans marked the 100th victory for head coach Mark Dantonio since arriving in East Lansing in 2007. He ranks as the second-winningest coach in program history with a 100-45 record.
It was also the 118th win of Dantonio’s college career, counting his 18 victories at Cincinnati.

Dantonio is now one of only two coaches in Michigan State’s history to eclipse the 100-win mark. Duffy Daugherty, who is still the all-time wins leader in the program’s history, was 109-69-5 during his career with the Spartans.
In 11 seasons in East Lansing, Dantonio has taken Michigan State to 10 bowl games and has ended the year with a winning record nine times. He’s claimed three B1G Titles, owns a 5-5 postseason record and guided the Spartans to the College Football Playoff.
The 2017 season marked the sixth time Michigan State has reached the 10-win mark under Dantonio.
