Even after a disappointing 39-31 loss to Northwestern in triple overtime, Michigan State head coach Mark Dantonio is keeping a positive outlook on the rest of the season.

The Spartans dropped to 6-2 on the year and 4-1 in B1G play after being downed in Evanston, but with Penn State and Ohio State still on the schedule, they still have an opportunity to compete for a division title and a chance to travel to Indianapolis at the end of the season.

During his Sunday night talk with the media, Dantonio talked about the disappointment of the loss to Northwestern, but quickly shifted the focus forward, saying that his team is still controls its own destiny. He also talked about the importance of playing winning football in the month of November.

Here were some of the highlights from Dantonio:

Michigan State will get an immediate shot at redemption this Saturday as it hosts No. 7 Penn State at Spartan Stadium. The game has been scheduled for a noon kick on FOX.

If the Spartans were to win out, they would own all tiebreakers in the East and would be headed to Lucas Oil Stadium in early December. But beating the Nittany Lions and Buckeyes is a pretty tall order.

Dantonio will need to have his team playing much better to have a chance in either of those games.
