Mark Whipple addressed “creative” comment from Scott Frost after the loss to Northwestern in Week 0.
Frost made a comment about the offense’s creativity and it seemed to be a shot taken at Whipple. Four days after the loss, Whipple was not bothered by Frost’s comment about the offensive coaching staff.
Whipple said he didn't even know Frost's 'creative' postgame comments until told recently. He said it's all been good. "I like you guys. It doesn't mean I read you," he said with a laugh. "Hey, we got to get better in all parts."

Whipple wanted to prioritize getting better as a play caller, which would help the offense improve. He was not aware of Frost’s comments until recently, but it did not disrupt Whipple’s focus:
“I like you guys. It doesn’t mean I read you,” Whipple said. “Hey, we got to get better in all parts.”
That could have been a moment when the head coach and offensive coordinator would be divided. However, Whipple brushed off the comment and locked in on making adjustments.
"I told the guys, we got to coach better. I got to call better plays. I got to coach better. You guys got to play and we've got to stay together and we've got to finish. And that's really the message."

“I told the guys, we got to coach better. I got to call better plays. I got to coach better. You guys got to play and we’ve got to stay together and we’ve got to finish. And that’s really the message,” Whipple said.
He will be tasked with fixing an offense that averaged 27.9 points per game in 2021. Nebraska’s season is off to a rough start and Whipple will be an important piece in having a winning season.
Nebraska will welcome North Dakota into Memorial Stadium on Saturday at 3:30 p.m. ET.
