Maryland welcomed Big 12 foe, West Virginia, to town for the season opener in Week 1, and the Terrapins did enough to come away with a dramatic win.

After the Mountaineers held a 21-20 lead for much of the second half, Mike Locksley’s squad outscored West Virginia 10-3 in the fourth quarter for the win. A key interception and a big touchdown pass to Rakim Jarrett helped swing the game for good.

On Monday, Maryland revealed its selections for Players of the Week. On the offensive side of the ball, the Terps went with QB Taulia Tagovailoa and Jarrett for their contributions.

Tagovailoa threw for 336 yards and 3 TDs while guiding the offense without turning the ball over. Jarrett finished with 6 catches for 122 yards and the late touchdown, giving him the second 100-yard game of his career.

Defensively, the Terps recognized 3 players in Lawtez Rogers, Nick Cross, and Ruben Hyppolite II.
