Maryland earned another Big Ten road win on Saturday afternoon by defeating No. 17 Minnesota 63-49.

The Gophers hadn’t lost a home game all year, but the Terps prevailed thanks to a 21-point game from guard Eric Ayala.

Maryland entered the weekend on the outside-looking-in of the NCAA Tournament bubble according to ESPN’s Joe Lunardi. He listed the Terps amongst his “first four teams out” in his bracketology update on Friday.

But now, Maryland has road wins over Minnesota, Illinois and Wisconsin — three of the Big Ten’s best teams.

Unfortunately for the Terps, those are their only conference wins of the season so far. Maryland currently sits at 3-6 in conference play and is tied for 9th place in the Big Ten.

As for Minnesota, this moves the Gophers to 4-5 in conference play this season. This is a disappointing result for a team that’s fresh off an upset victory over Michigan in the same building.

Marcus Carr was the only Minnesota player to score in double figures. He poured in 25 points in the loss.
