Maryland defensive lineman with two dozen offers commits to Michigan

Another member of the 2020 recruiting class is headed to Ann Arbor after giving his verbal pledge to Michigan this week.
On Wednesday, the Wolverines received a commitment from three-star defensive lineman Kris Jenkins, the 21st player to join the class. The 6-foot-4, 240-pound defensive end out of Maryland chose Michigan over offers from two dozen schools.
“I am beyond blessed,” Jenkins wrote on Twitter. “I wouldn’t be here without support from God, my family, my coaches and my teammates. 100% Committed to The University of Michigan.”

Jenkins was an attractive lineman prospect out of Olney, Maryland, one that has been interesting to several B1G programs. In addition to Michigan, seven conference programs have expressed interest, including Indiana, Iowa, Maryland, Michigan State, Northwestern, Penn State, Purdue and Rutgers.
Outside of the B1G, Virginia Tech, Duke, Boston College, North Carolina and Vanderbilt extended offers.
According to 247Sports Composite rankings, Jenkins is the No. 28 strong-side defensive end of the 2020 recruiting class and is the No. 18 player out of Maryland. Nationally, Jenkins ranks as one of the top 600 overall prospects.
Michigan remains at No. 2 in the B1G in the 2020 recruiting rankings and owns the No. 6 spot nationally.
