Deery is the No. 3 center in the country for the class of 2022, according to 247Sports.
“It felt right so I pulled the trigger,” Deery told 247Sports’ Brian Dohn. “I really like coach (Mike) Locksley’s message and the way he is building the program. I really, really liked coach Locksley and the rest of the staff. I felt like it was a place I could call home for the next four years because it is so close. It’s only like an hour-and-half and my whole family can come watch, and the football program is on the rise. I am just really excited.”
Deery attends Malvern Prep in Malvern, Pennsylvania. He’s listed at 6-foot-2.5, 275 pounds. He’s chosen the Terps over offers from Air Force, Army and Akron, amongst others.
Maryland now has eight commitments for the class of 2022. According to 247Sports Composite rankings, the Terps’ class ranks No. 20 nationally and No. 5 in the Big Ten.
