Maryland football rolled to a season-opening win Saturday, blowing past Buffalo with a strong showing in Week 1.

When the final whistle blew, the Terrapins had cruised past the Bulls 31-10. Quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa looked good for much of the game while completing 24-of-34 passes for 290 yards but was actually shut out of the end zone without a touchdown.

Offensively, Maryland was led by Roman Hemby who produced a 100-yard rushing performance on just 7 carries. He scored 2 touchdowns while Rakim Jarrett finished with his first 100-yard receiving game of the season.

On Tuesday, the Terps officially announced 6 Players of the Week for Week 1. Hemby and Jarrett led that group with Jakorian Bennett, Mosiah Nasili-Kite, Ami Finau and Octavian Smith Jr. also included.

On the defensive side of the ball, Nasili-Kite tied for the team lead with 6 tackles – all solo. He also had a sack and 2 TFL.

Bennett finished tied for second on the team with 5 tackles (all solo) and was a disruptive force in the secondary with 5 pass breakups. Smith had 2 catches for 12 yards and a 41-yard kick return.
