An in-state product chose Maryland football on Thursday. He picked the Terps over the likes of Boston College, Charlotte, Delaware State, and Florida A&M.

Jahmari Powell-Wonson is a 3-star wideout from the 2024 class per the 247Sports Composite. He comes in at 6-foot-2, 185 pounds out of Baltimore City College in Baltimore, Maryland.

247Sports ranks Powell-Wonson as the No. 152 WR and No. 33 Maryland product from his class. The Terps were the only B1G school to offer Powell-Wonson, but he still had interest from plenty of Power 5 programs.

North Carolina, Pitt, Syracuse, Virginia Tech, Wake Forest, and Duke showed interest in him as well.

Mike Locksley is making progress with Maryland football. This past season’s bowl victory was the first time that the Terps have won back-to-back bowl games since the 2002 and 2003 seasons.

The Terps reached a bowl game once again after finishing the regular season at 7-5. Maryland beat N.C. State in the Duke’s Mayo Bowl 16-12 to cap off the year.

With Powell-Wonson’s commitment, he is the first WR to choose Maryland from the 2024 class. 247Sports has Maryland’s 2024 class ranked at tenth in the B1G at the moment with five 3-star commits.

Here is a highlight clip of Powell-Wonson showing off his skills during the regular season:
