Maryland’s football program, head coach D.J. Durkin and other members of the staff have come under scrutiny recently after an ESPN report claimed that the culture of the program “toxic” in nature and bullying, intimidation and abuse had become commonplace. Unnamed players and former staff members spoke about the program to ESPN.
ESPN’s report came in wake of the death of Jordan McNair, who passed away two weeks after suffering from a heatstroke during an organized summer workout at Maryland.
Since the report surfaced, Durkin and other staff members have been placed on administrative leave.
