Maryland is still looking to add depth and talent to the program after landing the first bowl game of Mike Locksley’s tenure.

On Saturday, the Terrapins did just that by landing a linebacker via transfer out of the Big 12. VanDarius Cowan, a linebacker for West Virginia, announced his commitment to the Terps via the portal:

“Thank you Maryland for giving me an opportunity to come home and finish the journey I started so long ago,” wrote Cowan on Twitter. “Let’s get it Terp Nation!”

Cowan started his college career with Alabama as a 4-star member of the 2017 recruiting class out of Palm Beach Gardens, Florida. He has been playing at West Virginia since 2019.

Cowan’s best year with the Mountaineers came in 2020 when he recorded 17 total tackles, 4.5 TFL, and 2 sacks. He had 15 tackles with a sack and a TFL during 2021.
