A former Florida wide receiver is heading to Maryland.

Jacob Copeland announced on Christmas Eve that he’ll be transferring from Florida to Maryland. He spent 4 seasons in Gainesville before deciding to enter his name into the NCAA transfer portal.

Copeland’s decision comes after having his most productive season with the Gators. In 2021, the receiver totaled 41 catches for 642 yards and 4 touchdowns. Those were all career highs for the former Florida wideout.

Copeland also makes the decision after Florida moved on from head coach Dan Mullen. The Gators hired Billy Napier to take over the teams for the 2022 season.

In 4 seasons with the Gators, Copeland hauled in 86 catches for 1,366 yards and 9 touchdowns. He’ll be joining a Maryland offense that has Taulia Tagovailoa at quarterback and returns Dontay Demus Jr. and Rakim Jarrett at wide receiver.

The Terrapins should have plenty of weapons in the passing attack.
