A Maryland linebacker has decided to enter his name into the transfer portal after just one season with the program.
Monday, Demeioun Robinson announced via Twitter that he has decided to explore his opportunities outside of College Park. A former 4-star recruit in Maryland’s 2021 class, Robinson joins former star linebacker prospects Branden Jennings and Terrence Lewis to hit the portal.
All three former Maryland recruits were 4- or 5-star members of the 2021 recruiting class. Robinson was ranked as one of the Top 100 overall players of the cycle.
“First, I would like to thank the University of Maryland’s coaches and staff endlessly for their genuine support, guidance, and opportunities this past year. I have such a deep appreciation for everything that has been done for me,” Robinson wrote on Twitter. “It has been a pleasure playing for this program and working with such great leaders and players.
“After discussing it with my family, praying on it, and following my heart, I have decided to enter the transfer portal. I look forward to the future, and what’s to come. I am excited for more opportunities to become a better man, teammate, and player!”

In his lone season with the Terrapins, Robinson appeared in all 13 games and made 1 start. He piled up 18 tackles and 2 sacks as a true freshman with the program. He will have three years of eligibility to use at his next destination.
Maryland is coming off its best season in the Locksley era, finishing with a 7-6 record, including a win over Virginia Tech in the Pinstripe Bowl.
