Maryland is off to a great start after knocking off Texas in the season opener.

Few people expected the Terrapins to beat the No. 23 ranked Longhorns in back-to-back seasons. Well, that’s exactly what happened as freshman WR Jeshaun Jones stole the show and fueled Maryland’s 34-29 upset.

The win gives the Terrapins a lot of momentum moving forward with a solid chance at bowl eligibility and a winning season. For now, the team will focus on the immediate task of taking on Bowling Green Saturday.

In addition to being one of the main storylines of the weekend, Testudo Times highlighted the fact that the Terrapins were the only unranked team to take down a ranked opponent in Week 1. Michigan State and Penn State were among ranked teams to narrowly avoid big upsets, but major props are in order for the Terrapins following their Week 1 performance.
