Recruiting is hard. Especially when players that verbally commit can always go back on their word.
There is a date in which players can officially sign with a program, but, that date is far away from now. On Thursday, Maryland got to learn the harsh reality of what a verbal commitment really means.
Jordan Mitchell, a 3-star defensive end recruit for the Class of 2020 was committed to Maryland. As of last night, however, he’s not:

Mitchell holds 20 scholarship offers currently and told InsideMDSports about his decision:
“It was a little rushed and with their additions from the transfer portal and guys coming back they are deep at the position. So decided to open it back up before it got too late into the season,” Mitchell said.
Maryland’s 2020 class currently ranks No. 37 in the country and No. 9 in the Big Ten.
