Maryland pledge Justin Okoronkwo announced on Saturday that he has had a change of heart and has decided to back off of his verbal pledge to the Terrapins.

The Germany international had been a Maryland commit since November of last year. Without the 3-star linebacker prospect, the Maryland class now stands at 14 known commitments.

Since committing to Maryland, Okoronkwo has seen his stock explode. Dating back just to June, he has received scholarship offers from South Carolina, Nebraska, and Alabama. He recently wrapped up a US trip that saw him visit and camp with several schools — including Nebraska, Georgia, and Ohio State, among others — and then take an official visit to Maryland.

Okoronkwo was the No. 84 linebacker in the class and rated as a 3-star prospect in the industry-generated 247 Composite.
