When Maryland hosts No. 22 Penn State on Saturday, they will be welcoming a Nittany Lions team on a three-game slide. PSU has dropped games to Illinois and Ohio State since ending up on the wrong end of the much-hyped showdown with then No. 2 Iowa.
The Terps are now 5-3 on the season after snapping their own three-game losing streak with a 38-35 victory over Indiana last weekend. They need one more win to keep their name in the bowl-eligible talk.
On Tuesday, the Terps announced captains for the game against the Nittany Lions.

Defensive tackle Ami Finau, quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa and offensive tackle Jaelyn Duncan will serve as captains for Maryland on Saturday.
Only once has Penn State lost to Maryland in College Park, and that was back in 1961. The Nittany Lions are a dominating 40-3-1 in the series, but the most significant of those 3 being last season’s Penn State loss at Beaver Stadium.
The Terps were up 28-7 over the then heavily-favored Nittany Lions, and managed to come away with a 35-19 win. The loss was part of a 5-game skid by Penn State during the middle of the 2020 season.
Maryland will host Penn State in College Park for a 3:30 PM kickoff with FS1 carrying the television broadcast.
