Maryland quarterback Taulia Tagovailoa is off to a great start in 2021.

He’s leading the Big Ten in passing yards per game, but he’s also been one of the best QBs in the entire country.

According to Pro Football Focus, Tagovailoa has been the second best QB in the nation this year when facing pressure. He has an overall grade of 83.9 in those situations, trailing only Cincinnati’s Desmond Ridder.

So far this season, Tagovailoa is averaging 335 passing yards per game. He also has passing touchdowns and just 1 interception. He also leads the conference with a 173.2 quarterback efficiency rating.

The Maryland offense has been explosive with Tagovailoa under center, averaging 6.92 yards per play — good enough for No. 4 in the Big Ten after four weeks.

Maryland is undefeated to start the year and is on the cusp of the AP Top 25. The Terps are trying to make their first bowl game since 2016.

Maryland has a big test this week as it will host undefeated Iowa on Friday night.
